My Renaissance

Renaissance: The activity, spirit, or time of the great revival of art, literature, and learning in Europe beginning in the 14th century and extending to the 17th century, marking the transition from the medieval to the modern world.

Well My Renaissance didn’t have anything to do with art, literature and it happened way past the 14^th Century, but I do believe it involved me moving from the Medieval to the Modern World, letting go of the old and allowing the new energy to shine a light on me, letting go of the YUCK as I like to call it.

The medieval world was so full of darkness back in the day, blokes with names the like the Black Prince, Dark Night riding around in Armor pillaging and plundering, people didn’t wash much, rats were in plague proportions, beheadings and hangings were a popular public sport yep she was a nasty time.

Our own lives can be pretty medieval if we let them, we can have a few Black Princes surround us, rats can take on a human form and everyday life at the office or at home can make us excited about serving someone’s head on a platter or giving them enough rope to hang themselves.

Well I got a bit sick of it to be honest, I wasn’t having any fun anymore yep pillaging and plundering tends to get a bit boring after a while and one or two many heads on a platter and you own head can start to be lined up for that rope, so I made a choice, it was time for My Renaissance.

Ok, I lied I didn’t make the choice I sort of had a gun held at my head to make sure I did.

I won’t go into but there does come a time when you have overstayed your welcome, bitten off more than you can chew, stood on too many toes, burnt the candle at both ends and all the stars are in alignment and its game over should you make the wrong move. Birthday cards will be nonexistent the only friends you will have are the ones that are part of a like ladder on Face Book! That’s the time where a “My Renaissance” is seriously required.

Is it easy? No, is it worth it? Totally

Lots of books, tapes (they still have them don’t they) DVD’s will give you the heads up on the how, why, when of a Renaissance but really it’s that first “Giddy Up” moment that’s the kicker, you can read all you like, make promises gee in my case I even wrote about it but not until you get that kick in the Loins (ouch) will you go from the trot and drudgery of the medieval into the excitement of the modern world.

So what does this modern word have? Why is it so much better than the medieval? Why is it worth all the trouble to make that move? Firstly it’s full of light, no more darkness not just for you but for all those that see you. Secondly it’s full of love and its real love it’s not the slap on the back as you leave somebody’s house and they breathe a sigh of relief you gone. It’s a welcome love, so happy you’re in in my life, Love.

My Renaissance does have casualties, some of those in your life will not make the jump from Medieval to Modern, but that’s part of it. But let me you into a little secret, those that don’t come along, those that don’t make the jump? They usually go by the name of Black Prince, Dark Night or in reality are just plain RATS.
